MEDAH
The Middle Eastern Dance Artists of Hawai'i (MEDAH) is a non-profit organization established in 1989 to educate, entertain, and promote awareness and appreciation for the art of Middle Eastern dance. MEDAH also encourages a greater understanding of the artistic and cultural achievements of the Middle East. MEDAH sponsors visiting dance instructors, workshops, and public educational performances as well as "haflas" (parties). MEDAH publishes a monthly newsletter, Zagoreet, whose articles feature local and nationally known dancers, dance technique, music, books, reviews and local belly dance news.
MEDAH membership is open to anyone. The $20 annual dues are renewable before January 31st of each year. Members receive the Zagoreet, are invited to membership meetings, have voting privileges, may run for office on the MEDAH Board, and are offered discounts on MEDAH-sponsored activities. Gift memberships are available upon request.
